In a bout of nostalgia I decided to re-watch some old “Demos” from the 90′s, such as SecondReality and Panic. Completely unsurprisingly they refused to run from a cmd prompt in WindowsXP. The thought crossed my mind to boot off a Win98 boot disk – but then the realities sunk in – how would I read NTFS in DOS? Are there even any DOS drivers for my audio chipset.
DosBox to the rescue!
DosBox emulates DOS as if it is running on antiquated hardware. DosBox includes graphics capabilities and, most importantly, can emulate the SoundBlaster and Gravis Ultrasound.
